Renting a private meeting room or conference room for 6–12 people in a major US city typically costs $40–$110 per hour in 2026. Flexible workspace operators list entry rates from about $25–$69 per hour. Hotels add food and beverage minimums, service charges and sales tax on top of the room fee. This guide covers prices in 10 US cities, the pricing models you will see, and the costs that quotes often leave out.
Methodology: Figures combine published booking averages from US venue marketplaces, listed rates from national flexible workspace operators, and published hotel menus and AV price lists, collected in September 2026. All prices are in USD, exclude sales tax, and change often. Confirm the final quote with the venue.
As of September 2026, most private meeting rooms in large US cities cost $40–$110 per hour. Citywide marketplace averages range from about $41 per hour in Las Vegas to about $104 in Miami. Flexible workspace operators start lower, and full-day bookings usually cost less per hour than hourly ones.
The range covers three types of venue:
| City | Marketplace average, conference rooms (USD/hour) | Downtown example (USD/hour) | Flexible workspace entry rate (USD/hour) | Combined sales tax |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New York City | $49 | Brooklyn: $63 | from $39 (Queens), $69+ (Manhattan) | 8.875% |
| Chicago | ~$75 | Chicago Loop: $159 | from $25 | 10.5% |
| Miami | $104 | Miami Beach: $220 | from $25 | 7% |
| Dallas | $77 | Downtown: $104 | from $29 | 8.25% |
| Denver | $75 | Ballpark District: $240 | from $29 | 9.15% |
| Atlanta | $71 | Downtown: $170 | from $29 | 8.9% |
| Houston | $64 | Downtown: $119 | from $29 | 8.25% |
| Orlando | $67 | Northeast Orlando: $96 | from $29 | 6.5% |
| Las Vegas | $41 | Downtown: $116 | from $35 | 8.375% |
| Los Angeles | $62 | n/a | from $35 | 9.75% |
Downtown averages are higher partly because downtown bookings tend to be for larger rooms and longer events, not only because of location. Marketplace averages reflect booking data through mid-2026.
New York conference rooms average about $49 per hour on venue marketplaces, and a typical booking is four hours for six people. Flexible workspace rooms in Manhattan start at $69 per hour, while Queens is cheaper, so compare meeting rooms in New York City by neighborhood before you book. If a New York hotel provides catering, the room rental becomes part of the taxable event charge.
Chicago averages about $75 per hour citywide. The Chicago Loop averages $159, because bookings there typically run longer and involve larger groups. Flexible workspace rooms start at $25 per hour, and conference rooms in Chicago outside the Loop are often the better value for routine meetings. Since August 2026, Chicago's combined sales tax has been 10.5%, one of the highest in the country.
Miami has the highest citywide average in this guide, at about $104 per hour, and Miami Beach averages $220. Much of that comes from design-led and waterfront spaces. For routine meetings, meeting rooms in Miami at business centers in Brickell and Downtown start at about $25 per hour.
Dallas conference rooms average about $77 per hour, and downtown rooms about $104. Flexible workspace rooms start at $29 per hour. In Texas, the state hotel occupancy tax also applies to meeting and banquet rooms inside hotels. As a result, conference rooms in Dallas at standalone venues usually carry a smaller tax line than hotel space.
Denver averages about $75 per hour. Small rooms cost closer to $55 and larger rooms around $98. Central neighborhoods carry a premium: the Ballpark District averages $240. Meeting rooms in Denver at flexible workspace centers start at $29 per hour. Book early when large conventions are in town.
Atlanta conference rooms average about $71 per hour, but location makes a big difference: Midtown averages about $129 and Downtown about $170. Meeting rooms in Atlanta at flexible workspace centers start at $29 per hour. For hotel meetings, AV packages can cost more than the room itself.
Houston is one of the more affordable large markets, at about $64 per hour on average. Small rooms cost about $52 and large rooms about $86, while Downtown averages $119. Conference rooms in Houston at flexible workspace centers start at $29 per hour. Check whether parking is included, since many attendees will drive.
Orlando averages about $67 per hour, with flexible workspace rooms from $29. The market relies heavily on convention hotels around International Drive, which usually quote meeting space as a flat room fee plus tax and service charge rather than an hourly rate. Compare meeting rooms in Orlando across both venue types. Orange County's 6.5% sales tax is the lowest in this guide.
Las Vegas has the lowest citywide average in this guide, at about $41 per hour, with flexible workspace rooms from $35. Casino hotels on and near the Strip price differently: their meeting space is typically tied to a food and beverage minimum that can reach five figures, plus a 22–25% service charge. For smaller groups, meeting rooms in Las Vegas away from the Strip usually cost far less.
Los Angeles conference rooms average about $62 per hour. Flexible workspace rooms start at $35, or about $45 in West LA. Rates rise in Santa Monica, Century City and Downtown LA, and parking is often extra, so filter conference rooms in Los Angeles by area first. California taxes room fees where meals are served, along with mandatory gratuities.
Flexible workspace operators charge by the hour, usually with a one-hour minimum, and discount longer bookings. Hotels and conference centers typically quote a day rate or a per-person package. For a full-day agenda, a day rate is almost always cheaper than paying by the hour.

Industry estimates put a hotel meeting room at about $70–$160 per hour for the room alone. The final bill depends on four extra items, which together can add 30% or more to the base price. Many hotels waive the room fee if you meet the catering minimum.
To compare quotes fairly, convert each one into an all-in total for the same headcount, hours and setup. Ask what "++" means in each quote (plus tax, plus service charge), and read the cancellation terms before paying a deposit. Choosing the right room size and layout from the start also helps you avoid paying for unused space or reset fees.
